Certain conditions and circumstances, known as contra-indications, make it inadvisable or unsafe to have a treatment for your own health and safety. Holistic therapies are gentle and beneficial for your health, however, there are certain things you need to consider before embarking on any course of treatment: Treatment can not take place where the following conditions exist:
·
Inflammation, swellings (unrecognised lumps and bumps)
·
Contagious conditions, e.g. scabies, impetigo, ringworm
·
Infectious skin conditions
·
First trimester of pregnancy
If you suffer from one of the following conditions, you must seek agreement from a medically qualified person if you are under the care of a doctor or other healthcare specialist before undergoing treatments:
·
Cancer (Chemotherapy/Radiotherapy)
·
Scar tissue (if recent) or surgery
·
Cardiovascular conditions, e.g. thrombosis, angina pectoris, high blood pressure
·
Pregnancy (second and third trimester)
If you are unsure that any of these conditions apply to you, please ask. If you are uncertain, it’s best to ask first! This is for your health and safety and may avoid a wasted appointment. The information you provide will be kept in the strictest confidence.
